This Handmade Apple Wood Chopping Board with Blue Epoxy started with a cracking piece of apple wood full of grain, natural markings and the sort of character that mass-produced boards spend their entire lives trying to fake.
Then there's the blue.
Rather than pretending the natural features in the timber weren't there, they've been stabilised and turned into part of the design with bright blue epoxy. The result is a board that still looks unmistakably like real wood, but with a streak of colour running through it because apparently ordinary apple wood wasn't showing off enough already.
At approximately 13 × 7 × 2 inches, this is a compact but properly chonky working board.
Two inches of timber means it feels substantial on the worktop, while the smaller footprint makes it handy for everyday chopping, slicing and food preparation without taking over half the bloody kitchen.
Use it for vegetables. Slice bread on it. Prep fish. Serve something fancy on it when people come round and casually pretend you always put that much effort in.
The natural colour, grain and markings of the apple wood remain firmly part of the finished piece. The blue epoxy isn't there to make every board identical. Quite the opposite. It follows the natural features of this particular bit of timber, which means this exact combination of wood and blue belongs to this board alone.

Then when Christmas is over and everyone has finally stopped eating, put it back to work as a proper everyday chopping board.
Because underneath the blue epoxy and lovely grain, it's still here to do a bloody job.
